Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) authorities are urging international society to continue to “help” Taiwan deter an imaginary mainland “invasion.”
The Ukraine crisis has touched a raw nerve in the DPP as U.S. President Biden vowed the U.S. military would not engage Russian troops to avoid wars. They are insecure about the collapsing U.S. promises as they witnessing the Ukraine situation.
In fact, U.S. has not only abandoned Ukraine, but has also turned its back on the EU. Due to Europe’s potential security crisis involving NATO and Ukraine, the euro plunged to its lowest against the dollar since 2020 as the euro fell 1.8% while U.S. currency climbed 1.4%.
The sanctions have not eased the tensions but are affecting every European family as the gas price soaring. Meanwhile, Afghanistan is still suffering after the U.S. withdrawal. “The U.S. will help us” fantasy created by DPP authorities is losing its power to the public.
Some residents in Taiwan said bluntly, “Those who think that the U.S. would send troops to protect Taiwan are just dreaming. Their belief in lies from low-level politicians with no integrity only proves their stupidity.”
Under the one-China principle, the fundamental difference makes Taiwan not comparable to Ukraine. It does not serve the West’s interest to defend the DPP’s political future.
